Ditch the ‘gram for at night and appreciate the majesty of the Sony World Photography Awards.
There’s a whole big beautiful world out there, and so little time to see it (I don’t know about you, but my bank account is also
currently always an obstacle to a round-the-world trip). Luckily, the world – in all its splendour – is coming to you this week. The Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition is currently at Somerset House, and we’ve got the tickets to get you through the doors.
An embarrassment of photographic riches, the Awards celebrate the best images of 2018. With over 327,000 entries submitted across four categories (Professional, Open, Youth, and Student), you’d better believe the cream of the crop is on display here.
Spanning the worlds of nature photography, fine art, wildlife, and architecture, the Awards honour visual storytelling across the world. From riot scenes to tranquil night skies, from famous portraits to everyday people, the subjects of the 800 displayed images are a truly international bunch, with each work elucidating something new about our world and the human experience.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and when you’re presented with images like this, I’m very much inclined to agree!
