IMO posts about Brizzle is great who agrees?

Super Troupers and Dancing Queens alike will love this ABBA-themed restaurant.

If you’re expecting this article to be stuffed full of ABBA puns, please don’t send out an S.O.S – it’s just The Name Of The Game. Björn Ulvaeus, one of the B’s in Sweden’s most famous band, is opening an ABBA-themed restaurant in London this summer, and tickets are already on sale. And Knowing Me, Knowing You (and knowing their songs), we can all agree that there’s only one place in London it should go. Yep, the restaurant will open on August 30th in… the O2 Arena. Wait, what?!

It really should be in Waterloo, shouldn’t it? Well, Björn & co already tried that, to no avail. After planning permission was granted for a site around the corner from Waterloo station, local residents objected – presumably on the grounds that the notoriously rowdy ABBA fans would disrupt the peace with endless renditions of Fernando. We’ll assume the O2 said Take A Chance On Me, because that’s where the restaurant is ending up, to go with their original Stockholm venue.

Having said that, calling it simply a restaurant is a bit of a disservice. The venture is billed as an immersive attraction, known as Mamma Mia! The Party. This restaurant will be done up as a Greek taverna, and you’ll be serenaded with ABBA songs whilst performers play out a spin-off story from the Mamma Mia musical and film. (The upside of this is that you won’t have to hear Pierce Brosnan sing – and if you’ve seen the film, you know exactly what I’m talking about). There’s also a menu of Mediterranean dishes to dive into, enough to make you say Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

At the night’s end, the restaurant turns into a giant dance floor, where your parents can dust off their moves (if I may make an educated guess at the average age of the attendees). Sceptics will say this is all about Money, Money, Money, but then again London’s restaurant scene is a Winner Takes It All kind of business, so good luck to them!

Tickets are on sale now, and you can find them here.
